Animal Shelter Assistance Program (ASAP) is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization that takes care of the cats and kittens at the Santa Barbara County Animal Shelter. ASAP provides humane care for these animals and works to eliminate the practice of euthanizing them for reasons other than serious health or behavior problems. (805) 683-3368

C.A.R.E.4Paws promotes responsible pet ownership and animal welfare in Santa Barbara County. We create awareness through educational programs and dog training intervention and provide the resources necessary to make spaying and neutering a viable option for all. We collaborate with private and public institutions in the community to decrease the number of animals that enter shelters and rescue groups as well as to increase adoption rates within these organizations. K-9 PALS (K-9 Placement & Assistance League, Inc.) is the all-volunteer non-profit organization for dogs located at the Santa Barbara County Shelter. K-9 PALS works with County Animal Services to provide care and services to stray and abandoned dogs, and to find new homes for adoptable dogs accepted by Animal Services. K-9 PALS does not directly accept dogs. Quarantined and protective custody dogs remain under the jurisdiction of Animal Services. (805) 681-4369

DAWG(Dog Adoption & Welfare Group) is a volunteer-run, non-profit group with its own shelter. It is located near the Humane Society and the County Animal Shelter. DAWG specializes in taking dogs from the County Shelters to create more space for incoming dogs. They also work with dogs in need of special medical treatment, training and rehabilitation, and fund a free spay/neuter program for pit bulls and pit bull mixes. (805) 681-0561
