After graduating from Oregon State University in 2004, Dr. Carley completed a 12-month rotating internship followed by her Internal Medicine Residency at Bay Area Veterinary Specialists in the San Francisco Bay Area. Before joining the AVS team, Dr. Carley was the staff internist at Veterinary Specialists of the Valley, in southern California.
Dr. Carley’s primary research is in canine pancreatitis. She published her research on the Spec cPL, a blood test to diagnose pancreatitis in dogs. She also presented her research at a national conference, and has lectured on various other topics. In addition to pancreatitis, Dr. Carley’s clinical interests include gastrointestinal diseases and endoscopy, hepatic disease, renal disease, endocrine conditions, and immune-mediated diseases.
A childhood dream to help animals in need.
The doctor remembers wanting to be a veterinarian since she was a child, and says she appreciates AVS’s high standards for veterinary care. Dr. Carley resides in Santa Barbara with her husband and three children, and their three-legged cat, Moses. She enjoys running, cooking, going to the beach, hiking, music and reading.
